Cavan Photographer, Paul O’Hanlon
Our first featured Cavan Photographer is Paul O’Hanlon and we are delighted to showcase his photo of the sunrise at Tullydermot in the Cuilcagh Mountains in the west of the county.
We chose this particular photo for the sunrise to represent the time of the year at the moment, we have moved into spring and are waking up to longer and brighter days with the promise of summer coming around the corner. We have had a lovely spell of dry weather for March. Let’s hope we get plenty of sun for the summer this year!
I asked Paul for a few words about the photo:
“This was taken on my first real early morning of 2016. Around winter the sun rises so late I can practically lie in and still make it on location in time but for this shoot I had a long drive and a hike to somewhere I didn’t have a chance to scout out first. I rolled out of bed around 5 and walked and climbed through freezing bogs for this sunrise. This shot was taken on a quick break, the drive over hadn’t looked too promising but when I saw this I knew that it was going to be an amazing sunrise.”
Paul is clearly passionate about his photography and landscapes in particular. He shoots portraits, events too but his passion lies with the landscapes, long exposures and the wide angle lens.
Paul is currently runs beginner photography courses on request and a Into the Landscape Workshop with dates coming up this year.
If you would like to buy some prints, he will have some in Cavan Gifts this week.
